Shuttlecock Kicking

Shuttlecock kicking is a folk sport over 2000 years old. It originated in the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) and flourished later in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) according to historical documents. In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), shuttlecock kicking reached its climax in terms of both producing techniques and kicking skills.

This sport is convenient to play, for only one person and quite a small area is needed to kick shuttlecocks, and it can be practiced anywhere, anytime. Besides, it is a great way for physical exercise.

After the foundation of new China, the first formal national Shuttlecock kicking competition was held in Guangzhou in 1956. Since the establishment of the China Shuttlecock Kicking Association in 1987, the national shuttlecock kicking tournament has been held annually and this sport has gained great favor at home and abroad.
