The Mascot of 2010 Shanghai Expo

The Fuwa mascots of the Beijing Olympics have since been replaced by a new contender, Haibao , literally meaning 芒鈧搕reasure of the sea.芒鈧?The blue, cartoon-like mascot has been highly praised for its innovative use of the Chinese character 盲潞? meaning people. Its blue colour is said to represent water thereby echoing its birth place in Shanghai, as well as evoking notions of purity, optimism and a positive future.
